Kyle, have you found the information you need? I have just gone through the process to legally keep chickens on my 1/2 acre lot in Fairfax County. Let me know if you have any questions about the process.

I'd be interest in hearing how this went for you. My understanding is that anything under 2 acres requires a special permit at a cost of $435, a hearing at the board of zoning and neighborhood notifications. I'm on .94 acres and would only like 6 chickens for my daughter to manage.
