I am personally new to chickens but my husband raised them with his family when he was younger.
Right now we have 9 chickens all about the same age. Maybe a month difference between the oldest and the youngest. We have a pair of Black Australorps, a pair of Barred Rocks, a pair of Buff Orpingtons, a pair of Silver Laced Wyandottes, and 1 Black Star. We have a few quail too.
When I was doing research on raising chickens and trying to prepare for the chicks, this site kept coming up with all the answers. So I joined. It has been an invaluable resource. Fun too.
I am a stay at home mom and ranching hand. We have 250 head of angus cattle, 8 quarter horses, 4 pigs, 2 dogs, 3 cats, and 3 children under the age of 5. Needless to say we are a VERY busy family.
Caring for and raising chickens has been so much fun and so rewarding. I can't wait to increase my flock some more.
Thank you BYC!!!
