Hi everyone. I have one Buff Orpington hen she’s about eight months old and she only lays a fairy egg about once a month. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Hi there, welcome to BYC! :frow

Those are probably reproductive hiccups indicating that she's getting her system online, some can be slow to mature including Orps in my experience. Daylight increasing now should help laying onset and it should resolve quickly!

This is an excellent article.. which also indicates upstart as one possible cause.

I know it's a long wait!

If nutrition is good (using a formulated ration not something like scratch) and excess treats (reducing protein) are not contributing to the issue, then I think hopeful anticipation and excitement are still looming strong!

How long has she been dong this?
Do you have other birds that are laying better?

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!
