Our hen was attacked by a falcon today. They were playing outside when we heard bawking and found her lying on her back. She was breathing heavy and her eyes were open. We saw the falcon fly away. Will she be okay? We have her with our neighbor, an animal expert who has her under a heat lamp. Thanks everyone.

Does she have any injuries? Open wounds? She may have had the wind knocked out of her. Keep her in a quiet dark place and make sure she has food and water. You can put some vitamins in her water.

Make sure she can get from under the heat lamp if she gets too hot.

My rooster, King Julian, was dropped by an eagle last year, and fairly seriously injured. I brought him inside, warmed him up, and put Neosporin on his puncture wounds. He lived in our master bathroom bathtub for about a week, with bedding, clean water, and food, and now he's fine! He has a permanent limp, but it adds to his charm. On your hen, make sure to check for puncture wounds, especially on her back and sides, because falcons usually strike talons first. If you don't clean a puncture wound pretty quickly, the risk of infection is high because they're so deep. Dawn dish soap and warm water, followed by Neosporin, worked for King Julian. If you have your hen indoors in a quiet area, you probably don't need the heat lamp. As chickflick said, too much heat isn't good either.

Thanks for the help. We had our neighbor put her under a heat lamp ( he is an animal expert ) and we are waiting to hear about her condition. I'll keep you posted!
