Fall Hatch! Anybody with me??

Thanks it was!!

I have 18 that are strictly my egg layers with one roo. I have 8 Speckled Sussex with another roo and 6 Golden Cuckoo Marans with another roo. I use all the eggs to sell when I'm not hatching them out!! I sell them for $2.00 a dozen!

How do you like your Speckled Sussex? I've been thinking of getting a few this spring. The best layers I've ever kept were Black Australorps, I had Buff Orpingtons too but the BA were better layers. Those are the most "layer" type chickens I've had. I've heard the SS are good dual purpose layers. Do you find that to be true? Do you enjoy their personalities?

I love they way they look and their great as dual purpose birds. Not sure about their laying ability yet. Mine started laying late amd then of course the days got shorter so we'll see how they do in the spring. As far as their personalities goes I guess their good. Their really skitish!!

Skittish eh? I wouldn't have thought that. My California Greys are skittish. I'm hoping they will mellow with time and after seeing me more. Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to having a few. I hadn't ever considered them until recently I've been hearing a lot of positive things about them.
