Fall Quilt Block Swap due October 15th

400

I did a sample block from both of the pairs of fabric I bought. I loved that the one on the left was the same print with different background color, but I don't think there's enough contrast for the pattern. I'm liking the one on the right better. Also have to say I'm not loving the directions. I'm used to cutting triangles for flying geese. Took me forever to figure out how to end up with a seam allowance past the point, but I finally did! (Sewing one diagonal, cutting and pressing then sewing the second diagonal.)

The only color we have not used in any of our swaps was pinks, maybe that is next!!!
I like the suggestion someone made early on, before we actually started this swap, about pinks/peaches and cream with maybe a sage green to make a lovely soft quilt.

That's how I'm doing mine.

My blocks will be a little different from one another. I'll try to post pictures soon.

I think that would be very pretty and I elect you to pic the block since you did a wonderful job of picking this block. Do little blocks like you suggested to make a 12 incher with the sage border, mmm something for you to think about

have to keep it fairly simple or a block like this one would be easy to incorporate several colors. I took a break from the Oct swap and am almost finished with a jean rag quilt for my husband to take with him for his truck. (he's an over the road trucker) I even managed to incorporate a couple of pockets in it. not really looking forward to all the snipping that is coming up.

Both are pretty ,but the center gets lost that is why the one on the right seems prettier it really pops. If you know an easier way to end up with the same results then do it your way, I'd never made flying geese before so this was easy for me after I kept referring back to the directions and followed them line by line

Soft pinks and cream then we could add sage green sashing!
I havnt even started this one yet and there I am talking about the next one!:)
I have put the blocks together from the winter swap and made a quilt top, I took the bluest ones so are putting the other 4 on the back which is going to end up pieced. Have started string out the chicken blocks to make a huge quilt, got some deep green batik fabric for the sashing.

Both are nice, but I agree all your hard work gets lost in the block on the left. Have you though of the more open patterned blue from the lt w/ the more tightly patterned yellow on the rt and visa versa? Just thinking out loud.

I will remember that idea of sewing and pressing/cutting the geese one at a time next time for sure, as well as the cool 1/4 square triangle idea from earlier.
