We are only on day 13 of incubating our test run with 4 eggs. Three are growing and 1 was not fertilized. We had started running at a 45-50 % humidity but the air cells did not seem to be getting bigger so decreased humidity to 40%. Everything seems to be going fine now. Lockdown is days 19-21 and we were wondering if it is OK to leave the fan running or if we should shut it off during this period. Any knowledge you have gained from your own personal experiences?

I have no personal experience with fans. But I have read many of posts saying that you need to turn it off after the first pip if you can. If you need to open the bator to turn the fan off then do it before lockdown. LOTS of people on her talked about their chicks getting beat up by the fan.. the chicks pop out of those eggs bigger than you expect. Maybe someone else will chime in but that is what I would do from the horror stories I have read on here. Good luck with your hatch!
