Fan on during lockdown?

I have a Hova Bator that I added a 4 inch personal fan that just sits inside the incuabator. It definately helps keep that temp stable. So I assume that I turn off the fan during lockdown. If I don't I know that the chicks can get their beaks in it.

If you think they will get caught up in it then yes its best to turn it off.
Just keep an eye on your temps as they can fluctuate after you turn off the fan.

I think I'd try to build a screen cage to go over the fan and leave it in. It will help the humidity stay under control. Once they start hatching your humidity will spike, if you can't regulate it the ones that hatch later will get stuck.

I wouldn't worry about turning it off. I have hatched twice in my LG with added computer fan. I actually found that it was easier to keep the humidity stable without the fan on (slows down evaporation). I turned it off at lockdown and then watched the temp for a few hours (it will go up as the evaporation slows down).

I remove all eggs to a still air incubator for hatching and have never had a stuck chick.
Humidity will increase alot when chicks start to hatch from respiration.
Make sure you have any plugs open, it will help air circulate.

If I am not mistaken humidity at lockdown is essential. Chances of a chick getting shrink wrapped from low humidity are way better than them getting stuck from higher humidity. Am I right in this assumption?

My humidity is usually around 70% to 75% during lock down.

Can someone post a photo. of the windows in a hovabtor that is at the right humidty level, I would like to see how much moisture is on the glass.
