Oh, thanks!

Sorry it's taken me a bit to get back to you. Lol, let me see where I stand financially after I get a couple more bills paid off and see about you shipping me some. I've got a 55 gallon with hardly anything in it right now and am done with dealing with Cichlids and their constant fussing and sometimes murdering each other, so I'm taking an all community fish route this time. I had tried an Angel fish with another less aggressive Cichlid (Angels are Cichlids too), but was limited to the other tank mates I could get 'cause they're still aggressive enough to cause trouble for more peaceful fish. Plus we had to euthanize our Angel due to getting a major swim bladder issue that couldn't be corrected. The others I gave to a good friend. I'm not sure of the exact cause of the swim bladder issue, but I know it wasn't disease or worms. He suddenly started to hate the other Cichlid, which was a totally different type, and they may have gotten into it, but I didn't see any obvious sign of injuries on either fish. Who knows though. He was very pretty and I miss him, he'd eat out of my hands and would follow me from one side of the tank to the other, lol, but I've decided I've had enough of Cichlids, no matter what kind they are, 'cause it's not as easy raising them as community fish IMO.

I've got a lonely old, "I don't think will ever die 'cause it's lived way longer than it's suppose to" Blackskirt Tetra, lol, 5 Neons and a Peppered Cory in my 55 right now, that I moved from the 10 gallon. I'm gonna use the 10 gallon for some shrimp in the near future. Some Guppies would be a perfect fit for restocking the 55 gallon with other fish I want to put in it.

After having tons of Cichlid fry and owning male and female Guppies in the past, I know my husband will only want males this time though, as I sold my 35 gallon and have no room for fry anymore. I do have other small tanks, but not enough to hold as much fry as Guppies can pump out, lol! I hope that's okay.

I'll get back to you on it soon!

COOL!!!!!!! Thank you!!! How many do you want? The 21 are too little right now anyway, so whenever. But possibly if you could take them by March? Cause we are moving. Tomorrow I'm going to a sale at Ptesmart and going to buy a 2 gal.
:D So excited!

I have an (cheaper) idea. I will try it if you want. I think that the fry would make it from Ca. to Ky. in a Styrofoam box inside of a cardboard box, I make bean bags to warm in the microwave and I could heat them up a tiny bit before packing them and they put them in the sty. box and then put the bag with the fish in the middle. Then seal everything up. I think it would work. If you want, we could try with 2 or 3 fish. Want to?

My husband is still thinking on things, but if he agrees I'm sure we could take some by March. He wanted me to ask though, if these fish had been exposed to the fish with ich or not.

Fish, as you know, can be quite delicate, so shipping has to be done properly or you run a high risk that the fish won't make it. My husband won't sit still for me paying for shipping unless he knows the fish have a good chance of getting here alive. Otherwise he'll throw a fit.

This is how we could ship fish cheaply, so this may work for you too... Try this, ask your Petsmart fish department manager if they'll give you any of the boxes they have that they've had fish shipped in (or if they can save you some). If they won't agree, then ask the store manager. I use to work at Petsmart as a manager...ours just threw them away, so they should have no issue with giving you some unless they're gonna be uncooperative about it (some managers are nice, some not so much...it depends on the person). The boxes we got came with thermal insulation...this will keep the fish warm along with heat packs. We got our heat packs off of Aquabid pretty cheaply. Ask if Petsmart will let you buy some bags...they're cheap. You'll need the bags with the fish filled with air before shipping it...Petsmart should do that for you for free. Don't fill the bags with too much water though...about a third should be good. Don't feed the fish for a couple of days before you ship them.

Better yet, here's a site where we got some of our shipping info. (this should help explain a lot)... www.aquaboards.com/forumdisplay.php?83-Shipping-methods-and-tips

The best cure for ich that I found was slowly increasing the temp of the tank to the max that the fish could handle. Ich cannot thrive in that condition and even though it took a few weeks, I didn't lose a single fish. Never had an issue with ich after that. The problem with pet store fish is a lot of them have ich and at that point I didn't have the space to quarantine.

No, they were already separate when the momma's caught it. I will ask about the boxes, everyone at our store is REALLY nice. Hopefully they will agree! Good idea! I'm glad you can take them by march. The oldest ones will be about 14-16 weeks and the middle batch will be 10-12 weeks and the youngest (besides the 21) will be about 8-10 weeks.

Here is my plan. I talked to a "pro" at shipping fish (she used to work at a pet store) and she said to put them on overnight shipping and put a heater (Or bean bag) barely warm, and pad the box. Inside the box you put the Styrofoam lining the box.

Tammy, I got your babies settled into a new 2.5 gal with a pump. (a safe pump) And they are happy! They can't wait to meet their new "mommy". :)
