Should we consider investing in other cages / tanks for them then? They're going to stay indoors so frankly I have no aviary to put them in.

I would... Maybe go on Craigslist, or use large hamster cages, I prefer to keep mine in 50 gallon tanks. (Hamster cages are open, so dust and shavings fly EVERYWHERE!

do you keep one pair in a 50 gal tank?

I had 2 pairs in a 40 gal, all died but one too..before they died the chicks the one hen tried to hatch got pecked to death..I was at work and came home to a bunch of dead chicks on hatch day. The lone male was rehomed.

yes, more than 2 paired birds in one encloser will kill each other.
