Farm chatter

Yes I know that they overcrowd but I also know that pretty much all hatcheries do too. It’s the hard truth but it’s best to live with it in the back of your mind. I never see overcrowding on BYC and that makes me feel better about things.
Mine are a little crowded, but that's because my grandpa is a stubborn old fart, who doesn't know alot about chickens. I need more coops. He doesn't go outside in the winter, so he doesn't know what it is like. He does occasionally goes out during the summer, to mow the grass, but he also doesn't really seem to know how desperately I need to set up new coops.

you may need to have fewer chickens instead then.

They're not too over crowded. The mixed flock coop, still has lots of room, & the standard coop has lots of room. The bantam coop needs an expansion. The Bantams are maxed out until then.

I will be building a coop for the Malays, & my dad said he'll tell grandpa after I get all the materials. Gonna pick up a large stack of pallets today at the grainge.

Maybe you should stop hatching more chicks until you have the coop space?? Do the Malays because you bought them, but maybe wait until you have the coops to do any others.
I won't be hatching out anymore Bantams to add to the coop until it gets an expansion, but will be hatching some to sell.

I can add more to the standard coop, since the meat birds are gone, & most of the old 4yr old hens are gone now. Still have 1 to butcher. Working on getting rid of a rooster I don't need.

Malays will be in the Mixed Flock Coop temporarily until I build them their own place to live.
