I feel like every day the lord giveth and the lord taketh away.

something killed Foghorn last night. drug him all the way down the driveway (looong driveway) took the head but didnt take the body. I havent found a pile of feathers anywhere so idk where the fighting occurred. we are thinking a fox maybe. I lost a young rooster a few days ago but I was hopeful it was nothing. foghorn used to sleep higher in a holly tree until the tree was damaged and then he started sleeping at like 6-7 ft off the ground in a large bush/tree type thing. after the rooster got taken the other night, 2 of my hens who usually sleep with Foghorn vetoed that and have been sleeping on the front porch. they're smart ladies. I'm mixed as to whether I'm glad I grabbed my broody off the nest in the bushes and put her in a pen last night (on eggs, not chicks). I probably would have lost her instead which would have stunk but Foghorn was a great rooster. it's probably a good thing overall as I transition to the whitings and away from my barnyard mix flock. shes off the eggs anyway. rejected the new nest or freaked out by the commotion idk.

the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.
Job 1:21 KJV (second part of verse)

God loves you and He cares about you. May He give you peace and comfort during this difficult time of loss. I'll be praying for you.

When Job said that (the Lord gave, etc.), he was actually mistaken. The Lord gives and Satan takes away. If you read Job 1 youl'll see that it was Satan that brought all Job's misery upon him, not God. But Job could not see behind the curtain, so to speak.
