Next round of chicks may include: 4 Black Sumatra X Marans/Gamefowl crosses, 4 Heritage Plymouth Barred Rock X Malay(Hopefully the Malay pullets are laying by then), there'll be about 5 experimental crosses, a mix of OEGB X Buff Orpington, & OEGB/Phoenix X Buff Orpington.

Sounds interesting! I wanted to hatch a lot this year (maybe like 30 chicks) but my dog passed and the puppy I'm getting is quite expensive So I'll probably sattisfy my broodies with Silkie X Sablepoot eggs

Or maybe order a couple of chicks from a hatchery

The project crosses are for my New breed project, Rainbow Runners.

30 chicks is quite a few.

What breed of dog? My dad got his dog back in Oregon. The dog is a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix for $74.

And we got our Rat Terrier, Chihuahua, Miniature Pinscher mix for free.

I forgot to include I'm hatching at least 6 eggs from my Project Wheaten Crele Orpington group to attempt to hatch another rooster like Goober.

The key traits I'm looking for is this down pattern plus this posture. It's okay if the down color is different though as long as he's barred.

The Malays are very cold hardy just like the breeder said. Temps got down to 18 degrees last night, & all survived.
