Farm chatter

Earlier I was at a poultry trading thing at my feed store. There was a tiny button quail someone was selling, and it had all the skin torn off its neck, and all the other quail that were in the cage kept pecking it and making it bleed more. The poor thing was stumbling around. I wanted to bring it home and help it, but parents. :(

That's horrible.
I was at an animal Swap, & there was a man that had his birds in small cages, & would slam the cages on top of the cages with birds in them. He even held the mouths shut on baby guineas when they were screaming. I hated that man. We did manage to rescue a pair of guineas from him.

The guy that had the quail, he also had 4 chickens in a cage so small they were literally on top of each other. Another man had bigger cages, but they were packed full of roosters that were fighting with each other.

The guy I rescued a couple guineas from, had 4 Heritage juvenile turkeys crammed into a cage that wasn't large enough for them.

Some of the poultry swaps are just terrible. There’s one person that sells old, mite infested, ex-battery hens. Another has rabbits stuffed in cages. Literally the cage is barely big enough for them to fit in. They are smashed up against the wire and can’t move it all.

He was the only guy who didn't treat his birds good. He was all about the $$$, & not about the welfare of his birds. Next Swap, I hope he's not there.

Yeah, that's not good. Some people just don't care.

If by rescue you mean purchase, then you're just furthering his business of mistreating them.

Two sentence horror stories are just something I found online once. The first line was super innocuous and the second sentence made it a horror story.

e.g.
Today I was scrolling through my phone and found pictures of me sleeping. I live alone.

I had no choice but to pay, but I'm just happy we got them out of that situation. I'm not gonna walk up there, & snatch a couple cages of birds. Even though I felt like doing that.

The sample you gave is interesting.
