What are you using now? Maybe you could wrap your hand to keep them cleaner?

I use guase pad, & wrap to cover them with when I'm working with the birds. I just can't do anything overly dirty.

The itchy old lady cat has a new type of Shampoo arriving today. It's for flea bites, skin allergies, hot spots, & Dermatitis.

I always use shavings, although I suppose those would be worse for your cut.

Shavings wouldn't work for my Crate nesting boxes. There's gaps in the bottom from bar spacing.
