So my friend and I were at Neighbor Lady's house (NL from now on). friend's dog isn't very well trained, and is allowed to roam between the two properties (they're connected by a bit of woods). NL encourages the dog to come to her house bc she gives dog treats. Because I'm apparently the responsible friend, I was the only one paying attention when the dog pushed open the door and went inside the house. Normally this isn't a problem, but NL had A) an open brooder of chicks and B) a parrot both with dog access. LUCKILY dog ignored the chicks (I wouldn't have been able to save them) but noticed the parrot. Parrot, because it has a brain, flew away, which triggered the dog's hunting instinct. dog was *this close* to catching parrot when I heroically tackled the dog (more like full body grabbed, but tackled sounds cooler) allowing the parrot to escape.
