How about a fan? Maybe an extra cool breeze may add to the protection against the heat.

High enough that it won't happen. Just angled where the rabbits go.

Slowly introducing the fan, gradually should help prevent them from being spooked. Never want to fully add something new permanently without a gradual introduction of a new item.
