I recently bought the farm innovators digital incubator 4250 because my old one finally crapped the bed. I’m testing it out with multiple thermometers and hygrometers. All of them are calibrated. My digital one records throughout the day and the fluctuations in temp has me a little worried.

These are the readings from today. It fluctuates within range of hatching. But are these fluctuations enough to kill embryos? Should I return the incubator because it isn’t usable? Any help or advice is appreciated.

I’m not too worried about humidity because it isn’t going to be used as a lockdown incubator and I dry incubate.

Thank you. I had read some reviews on this incubator about the temperature fluctuating too much. That’s why I asked. I had my husband set it up and it turns out he didn’t put the cover on right. So the temp was fluctuating so much because the hole in the cover for the egg turner was not where is was supposed to be. It wasn’t lined up right. Now it is and it holds temp much better.

My temperature in my farm innovator was to radical. If would fluctuate 2-3 degrees. Unfortunately I lost about 3 dozen hatching eggs before I figured out the problem. I am returning the incubator to the store today. I have a nurture right 360 and absolutely love it. It has always been spot on and I have had amazing hatch rates even on shipped eggs. Hatch rate about 75% on shipped eggs. My Farm innovator incubator I have had a terrible hatch rate 0-25%.

So far this incubator has working out alright. I don’t use it as a lockdown incubator but have had chicks pip in it. The auto turner is slow enough that the chicks get into position, and even though I keep the incubator dry chicks still pip out in it.
I was on the fence between this one and the nurture right. It’s good to know that’s a decent incubator as well. In case I need to get another in the future.
