I was gifted with a Farm Innovators incubator model 2200 and the auto turner model 3200 this past Friday. I set them up and everything was working fine and quietly. I had additional thermometer/hygrometers set up, temps were holding great with no spikes and everything. Yesterday the turner started making plastic on plastic noise, not much but noticeable. Today I can hear it from across the room. I opened the bator(with eggs in it) and saw that a couple of the trays had popped out on one end and it didn't seem to be turning today, popped them back in place easily and now everything seems to be in working order except the dang thing is still noisy. A call to FI told me that the noise is normal. Really? It's a tiny bit quieter now and doing its job, no temp spikes although I didn't put any eggs near the motor knowing that it can get hot.
Anyone else have this and have a cure? I'm thinking of putting it in the laundry room after my other incubator in there is hatched out just because of the noise.

I believe the Little Giant turner is the same or very similar. It sounds like something is binding in the linkage. Is the wire screen in place under the turner, on top of the water channels? It sounds like you already have it loaded with eggs, but if you want to check it out, temporarily place the eggs on the wire screen and remove the two screws that mount the motor to the frame. Gently disengage the motor and check the movement of the rails and linkage without the motor. Now reinstall the motor and screws, and plug in the turner on a flat surface and check the operation.

If you don't find any issues, return the turner to the incubator and replace the eggs. I have three of the turners running in my incubator six feet from my desk and I can't even hear them.

I will try this. I know I have it placed correctly and it is on top of the metal screen. Everything seems to be where it needs to be and it has been turning the eggs way it should. I dont mind taking the eggs out, just glad it's only one dozen this time.

Well I didn't take it apart yet but I did unplug it overnight and plugged it back in. It is just as guilt as when I fist got it. So, after I get off of grandma duty today and can get uninterrupted time with it, its coming out to see if I can do something to help it vent some. It seems there is some poor design going on and if I'm lucky, I can do a little tinkering to keep it from it's seeming overheating. That's the only thing that makes sense since I also noticed a very slight hot plastic smell from it. Not a burning smell if you know what I mean.
