Farm Related Photography. Pictures are the best Advertisement!

They aren't Farm animals, but they are ones that I've spotted. Can anyone identify them? I've never seen birds like this..
I'm thinking it's a male and a female since they were always near each other..

One is a green heron, one is a night heron.
I would agree. The bird in the first picture is the green heron, second night heron. No idea on the genders. They're beautiful birds.

I do love herons. Birds in general, of course, but herons are such stately birds. We mostly get great blues on our pond, but occasionally we'll see the greens and great egrets.

We also had this surprise visitor last week, a double-crested cormorant. Such backwards seeming birds--their feathers don't shed water like ducks or geese, instead they get soaked and in turn they must spread their wings out to dry before flying again.

Anything in flight fascinates me. These little guys spend their time hovering just over the surface, hunting, the fierce predators of their domain. Little dragons

Here are the 'silk turkeys.' Part of a group of 8 poults who live with the silkies and think that they are no different.

And a real silkie, a few weeks older than the turkeys, but about half their size now.

Rocker hen thanks for the beautiful photos and information, about cormorants. Do egrets and cranes also have to dry their feathers before they can fly again? That sure leaves them in a perilous state

My silkie hens raised 4 peachicks last year. Two of the "chicks", now pretty much full grown, are in a pen right next to the silkies. They still follow those little hens back and forth by the fence. lol And the peafowl are so fascinated by this years silkie chicks. They're hilarious to watch.

Took me the longest time to figure out what was going on in that top picture.

What kind of chickies are they? I love the colors.

Let's see...I think I have some new pictures to post.

This is Coraline, one of my little children. lol

Coraline and brother Ink watching the silkie chicks scratch around on the other side of the fence.

Kevin. Don't ask me how he ended up with the name....I still have no idea.

Every time I go in the Silkie coop to check on the chickies, this is what's on the other side of the wall.

I love them.

House kitties...but we live on a farm, so they can be farm related, right? lol I came home one day and woke them up.

The sisters, Buffy and Ziniadia

BooBoo Buffles! lol

She's such a beauty! Looks just like dad & grand dad here.

Little Spot all grown up. She's an egg laying machine! Gives me an egg every day.

The farm took some animals to Taste of East Haddam Saturday. Petunia the pig and Race Car the Mini Horse (and a bunch of other critters) went. They had a pet costume contest that no one knew about... Wish we did, we would have been more prepared! But, Race Car wore a Cowboy hat. Petunia pretended to be a French Bulldog.
