Definitely a good kind of busy.

This is my killer kitten, Rat a.k.a. Lucy.
This here is one of the first things I see every morning.

That is adorable! I have a little girl much like her. She showed up on the front porch one night, wild as ever but hungry enough to hang around. I have no idea how old she is. She was tiny when she got here and hasn't grown much although she's easily right on a year old now. I guess her growth is stunted from the malnutrition she endured as a baby. We named her Godzilla-Zeus because she was so fierce in spite of her size. Somehow the name didn't stick. She now goes by Mothra. She thinks faces are comfortable.

This is Sid Vicious, another that showed up on the front porch one night as a tiny kitten. He was with us for months before I found out that he had been thrown away in a dumpster when he was a baby. My neighbor found him and took him home and lost him the next day. LOL, I offered to give him back, but Sid decided to stay.

And this one just for fun- another stray. My daughter found him and his brother. Starving little kittens. She named him "Dog" but that morphed into "Doogz".

Altogether, we've got 7 cats, plus a stray tom that's been hanging around for the last year or so. It's likely that he's Mothra's daddy. I can't manage to tame him enough to haul him down to the vet, but he's acquainted himself with the kitty door and I sometimes look up to find him sitting in the kitchen at night. Just staring at me. It's a little creepy.

Well, so much for the duck fun. One of our workers took Lucky home.

She has 10 chicks, they figured Lucky would be better off living with the chicks than by itself here. I guess no one thought to ask me after I had already promised to care for the duckling.
hu.gif
They just pretty much came to get Lucky and that was it. I was pretty bummed, to be honest, but I guess it's better this way. If it doesn't work out for whatever reason, Lucky can come back. I think Lucky will have to come back sooner or later anyway, so he/she can live with other ducks.
And the guy that brought us the duckling, I think he was full of beans. He claimed he found the duckling in the last snow storm and last time it snowed, was well over a month ago. This duckling is 3 weeks old at the most. Either way, it's a healthy baby and LOOOVES people. Seems to be a black Swedish Duck. Does this breed even live out in the wild??

Well shoot! Maybe you will get Lucky right back or you can get different duckies if you think you want to. I believe they are strictly a domesticated duck??? I've been looking into what my Pekin Rouen crosses are going to look like and some of them kinda look like that. Should be interesting. Yeah, 2 of mine are 4 1/2 weeks old and they are pretty big!

All my cats are rescues, the four of them. I got Lucy from a co-worker. She is a vet tech at a local animal hospital and someone had brought momma kitty with a litter of 5. These cats, and several others, had been roaming the streets and living at an abandoned house. The person that found them had been feeding them and was finally able to catch this family. The animal hospital took them in and my co-worker was fostering them.
She was TINY when she first came but now she's growing like a weed.

I keep telling her she's dangerous. She keeps attacking the bigger cats (and me) that are twice her size. I guess she likes to play rough.

The others are so tolerant of her nonsense.

This is Lucy the day she came.

The other three.
My black cat literally showed up at the door the night before Halloween in 2008. We were carving pumpkins. Go figure. She had to have been someone's pet because she had a flea collar on. I bet someone just kicked her out because she's all black. She wasn't more than 6 months old, the poor thing. I did try to find her owners but no one of course wanted her back and she decided to stay anyway, so that was a done deal.
lol.png

The other two. I saw a well dressed man driving a brand new Lincoln dump these cats on the side of the street and drive away. The bigger, grey one was literally all skin and bones. She was maybe a year old. She was terrified of people and had been abused. The smaller one was barely 6 months old. I'm pretty sure she is the grey one's baby. She was in decent shape. When I saw the whole thing happen, I ran outside in my PJ's with no shoes, and brought the cats in.
lol.png
I thought about finding them homes but after a few days, just didn't have the heart to let them go. lol
Now the grey one follows me everywhere, she sleeps on my pillow and she's a happy girl. She's a little chunky, actually. She doesn't do much, but I guess that's ok. She's enjoying life now and looooooves having her forehead rubbed. She used to dig her claws into my hand if I went anywhere near her face.

I wasn't planning on getting ducks any time soon, so if Lucky doesn't come back, I'll wait to get some Mandarin ducks in the future.
I can't wait to see what kind of a duck Lucky really turns out to be.

. I'm in the denial stage right now...lol. Ah shoot.... hello, my name is 3acres and I'm addicted to poultry!!!! .....lol.

Well dang....the cornish cross had no food, so I grabbed 2 of them. The red stars had no water, so I grabbed 2 of them...they were on my list to get this spring and hadn't got them yet...

. I'm pretty sure at least 1 of my BR chicks is a rooster, so I grabbed 1 of them....lol. All of those had just came in some what rescent. The ones that had been their awhile had an inch of pasty booty....poop in their food like last time I was there and so on. I felt sorry for them, but wasn't going to take a chance of bringing some thing home. I don't know if there would be a chance or not. Seems if they are there any time at all, kids handle the snot out of them also. I think I showed great self-control....hahahaahhehehe.
