X2 - I get cold really easy - can handle the heat much better than cold - love that Arizona sun!! I don't mind the heat so much, but I absolutely HATE humidity. BUT, glad I have the swamp cooler lately as it's been hotter than normal this year.

Anyway, here's my pics for this weekend...

I let my silkie Cloud sit on 4 of her own eggs. At the time, the only roo available was the blue silkie as our cochin started mounting the girls after she started sitting. So, these are pure silkies, though they are only hatchery quality.

I candled a while back and one ended up being a dud - not even fertilized. The other 3 were developing. Well, one hatched yesterday!! The cool thing is that I went out to check on her, lifted her up and actually saw the first pip happen in those few seconds! I left them alone for a while, then snuck a peek later and then again today. Was a little worried about the other two but I gently held one of the eggs to my ear and could hear movement and peeping inside! Yay! She (Cloud) is such a sweetie - never pecked me once during her whole broody time or even when I wanted to see her new baby.

1st pip

Hatched!

All fluffed up...

Discovered the chick starter left in there for mom...

Looks like dad...

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have 2 more babies to show!!

My rabbit did not make it through the night :( I thought for sure she would. Even dreamt that she was recovered.

I will be taking more precautions when days are as hot as they were yesterday (did I mention 108 on our property?)

Poor thing...

OMG I didn't realize it ever got that hot up in Canada!!! wow.

The rest of them had the smarts to go in the shade or under the baby barn to keep cool. She was out in the middle of the sun. Why would she do that?

I am so glad today is going to only be 80.

I honestly don't have an answer for that. It's right up there with my new rooster standing in the middle of the run in the pouring down rain yesterday.

So sorry!!! We don't even get quite that hot where I live in AZ!!

I am pretty sure we broke some sort of record.

It doesn't normally get this hot. Ever. I can't remember it ever getting above 95 until this summer. We've had 3 heat waves this summer so far. Three different times. Temps have been around 100 each time every day (with humidex) but was most likely hotter in our yard. Yesterday temps in Moncton reached 93 without humidity. In our yard:

Our humidity is gross as well. Humidity is usually in the 70's, making temps feel way worse than they should. You can see the averages.. We are way above our averages for the most part.
