Fisherlady is that first beautiful pup,  your avatar.  Looks like it.

Yes, that is Mindy, at her first vet appointment. Her expression there says it all...."I'm worried because I don't know what this place is but i trust you, so I will be good". That was her personality from the day we got her, she is spooky smart at figuring things out,.
And she now can spell almost all the common words, so we have to use weird code names for stuff.

Finally got a few minutes to take some pictures today!

This is one of my young cockerels I hatched in July. I had an 11 year old little lady help me today with naming some of these youngsters. She named him Maximilian, and one of his sisters is now Ruby. Two more birds left to name. lol

Then there's my favorite goat of them all, Benjamin Button.

And Wolf the Jacob sheep.

Benjamin and Charlie napping in the sun.

Old lady Daisy napping also.

All great shots, but I am still so in love with your silkie boys! He is so cool, and I bet he knows it! LOL
Daisy is precious, I always had a soft spot for the older horses, they just knew how to do things on their own terms.

Yes, little Maximilian knows he's hot stuff.

He learned to crow fairly early and is now trying to impress the ladies. They just don't seem to be very impressed yet. lol He's a cutie though. He's the only chicken that comes right up to me in the pen, the others take their time. Unless I have food, then that's a different story.

Daisy is a wonderful mare! She's somewhere around 28, I think. Apparently she used to be a hack horse in a facility where people could basically rent horses and take them for rides. Daisy has a couple of quirks, I'm sure caused by poor handling in her past. You have to be very careful how you cinch her up, otherwise she'll go straight up in the air. And never ever pull on the leadline, she'll do the same. Luckily we know what upsets her and we work with it. Otherwise, she is one of the safest horse on the farm. You can always trust Daisy! I love her dearly.

There was a horse like that at the barn I used to ride at (haven't been in like almost a year in January originally because of winter storms then I was just too scared to call lol). She was much younger though, maybe only 12? Or like 14? Something like that. She was a quarter horse I think. She was very friendly and sweet but a little moody sometimes. She also had weird issues. Most of the horses at the barn she.got for really cheap, sort of rescues if you will. In Daisy's case she was abused. She was hit in the head with a 2x4 and i believe also kneed in the stomach when they cinched her but I've heard some say that's how it's done out there. (The kneeing when cinching not the head hitting). She had been there I think a year when I was there. She was way better but previously was head shy. She then had an incident at a show where someone was taking her out of the trailer, trying to help, and backed her onto my teachers foot or maybe that was another horse but also she didn't really know what she was doing and got her halter stuck on the trailer trying to back her out and I think it broke and she FREAKED so it kind of, obviously, set back the progress with her being head shy. :( and you had to stand clear cinching because she would bite the air. She was so sweet and meant no harm but it was just a bad habit from being kneed. One time my.teacher was cinching her for me or someone else I think and I was giving her treats/just standing there and not careful and she bit me. Not hard, more like just a clip and I don't know it broke skin or.one tiny amount on one finger, but still. I knew she meant no harm. I feel bad for her. She's great though. She goes on like auto pilot, you tell her how to go and she stays that speed. She's like the energizer bunny lol she will go and go and go which is nice but you also have to be careful and pay attention cause you can become too relaxed as opposed to a horse that always tries to stop and get away with stuff keeping you.on your toes aka 24 year old Bubba lol he's the sweetest boy too and.loves me. Some he tolerates and some he hates but from the first day she said he actually likes me which is nice. :) sweet sweet boy. I think he's also a quarter horse but he's big, like 16 something hands. He was saved from slaughter. Came from out west i think,he has a lot of scars and branding. And sorry if I'm making it seem like horses out there aren't taken care of cause i know they are but yeah

We'll never know what happened to our Daisy, but it's clear she carries some bad memories. It's ok, we all do..some worse than others. I still think Daisy is one of the best horses I've ever met. And having lived in 2 different countries and having worked for several different farms...I've met a lot of horses.
Don't be afraid to call your barn! Pick up the phone and go for a visit, it'll be worth it. Hardest part is picking up the phone.
