I already have a big ol' indoor baby! His name is Rowdy...he's a rescue mutt...basset hound and catahoula leopard. Simply the most amazing family dog I've EVER had!

But yes...64 acres is a lot of room for them...& mom and dad are already teaching them the ropes!!

Ya could have 2 :p jk jk lol

But awwww he is so adorable!!! I could almost see a bit of doxie in there, thought he was at first, but that could be because Bassetts have long bodies too. Either way he is sooo cute!

And aw that's awesome they're already learning!!

Seeeee?? They will be good help :p

Lol we actually thought he was part doxie when we adopted him because he was rather small (22lbs) but he kept getting bigger and bigger and if you see him up close, his legs and everything are just like a basset and he weighs over 40lbs now (picture makes him look smaller but he's rather big and long - & SOLID!)
The vet told us definitely part basset

We'll see what happens with our other 2 BC mixes...I'm not exactly going out of my way to find them homes at the moment

Ohhhh okay, that makes sense then! He definitely looks smaller in the pictures, part of why I thought that LOL

Could be anything though, ya never know with rescues. But I definitely see the bassett and catahoula now, especially with how big he is :)

Haha you should definitely keep them! :p

"3" I went back to the very beginning of this thread and so far read the first 100 pages - you were very active then, and I didn't remember your sense of humor. You are(were?) to hard on yourself. Your pictures were stunning from the beginning. I used to email them to everyone who was sick of chicken pictures. I found out how "3 acres," is really big enough to have camels, and zebras and buffalo , and cattle, etc. That's okay when I raised dogs - I used the Golden Acre prefix, in the beginning we had a 35' city lot in Chicago. The only gold was the dandelions.

When we moved out 46.5 years ago, we blossomed to 1/3" of an acre- which seemed HUGE to us.

PS don't see as well as I used to but, I didn't notice you "from the saddle", maybe I imagined it all. Or the next 100 pages might reveal it. I always thought that was so cool & mysterious.

It sounds like an amazing opportunity! We'll be needing pictures!
There will definitely be pictures!! The farm is gorgeous. I can't wait to get out there with my camera. lol

Who has zebras?!?!?!?! I want a ZEBRA!
We have a Zedonk, a Zebra-donkey mix here at the farm where I work. Trust me, you don't want one. lol They're just pretty but not good to handle. Of course I can only speak for our Fancy Pants, but I've heard and read many stories how unpredictable these mixes are. And the little research I've done on the "breed", they don't make great pets or animals for any use, really. There are some horse x zebra mixes that supposedly have been ok to ride, but all other stories I have heard and read, these animals aren't great to work with. My feeling is, that people only breed them for their looks. Anything special, differen and rare, usually becomes a good source of income as well.

Zebras are wild animals. Donkeys are stubborn. We have several of them here. In my experience, they do what they want.

Thank you very much! I appreciate it! Too kind though....I made you an eye appointment for tomorrow at 10....lol.

No problem! It's true! And LOL no! Never too kind because I'm simply telling the truth and I don't need my eyes checked because it's true that they are fantastic photos and I mean it :p (though I may take you up anyway because a chicken pecked me in the eye last week. You waking and picking me up? LOL ) (and yes I know it was a joke)
