I never had one of these before. One of my 1 yr olds laid this
I havent cracked it yet to see if it has a yolk or not.
I wonder if it means one of my ladies is getting ready to stop
laying for a while. They have been laying pretty heavy so maybe
they are tired.

Well it looks like u may have what ive refer to as a pullet hen. They just naturally lay small eggs that are about the size of a robin egg. Thats all that particular hen(s) will ever lay.

I don't think they have any great meaning. Whenever I get one, it seems like they are right back on track, in the next day or two. I collect all mine, and keep them in a birds nest! I like to call them "luck" eggs! Still waiting for a green one....

That's better than what my hen does. Sometimes she'll lay extra egg material without the shell. What a mess! She's done it in the nest box before (we only have one.) Right now I have a broody in there, I'm so worried she's gonna get slimed!

One of my young hens did the same. The yolk was the size of a pencil eraser, but the white was much thicker than normal. The egg also floated when I did a float test, so it wasn't eaten, but it made for a fascinating science lesson for my daughter and her friends.

My 7 month old hens have been laying for 2 months now. Nice size eggs since they started laying. Now one is laying small eggs like the size in the picture. I have her away from the rooster for a week cuz he was giving her too much attention and she is losing feathers on her back and has a bare spot where she is getting tough skin. Could it be stress causing her to lay the olive size eggs? She's away from her stud rooster and misses the attention?
