"Fart" eggs-why?

I had never heard them called "fart eggs" till BYC....


We always called them "luck eggs."


Sounds nicer.....LOL


Chickens just lay them sometimes. Just kind of a blip in their egg producing system.

I think the term evolved from "wind egg".

Got my first fart egg a few days ago, unfortunately it cracked before i had time to take a picture.

Fart egg? Ewww that just sounds bad no one could be more creative than that?

I mean how about a hollow egg or the empty nest egg or something but fart egg? ewww.

I was shocked too when I accidentally cracked it and there actually was a very tiny yolk in it, I really thought it would be all egg white!

My Lil' Bit laid a tiny fart egg when she was about 5 1/2 months old, then she didn't lay another egg for almost three months (I think it was). Now she's an almost daily layer.

After seeing that fart egg with a yolk.. I am now extremely tempted to see how far they would develop in an incubator.

If one hatched, that would be crazy

I got a fart egg one time that was just a yolk - no white - and the yolk completely filled up the shell. The weridest thing I had ever seen....well almost.
