I know that suet is a special fat from the cow (above the kidneys I think?). What about drippings (mostly beef) mixed with sunflower seeds. Is there any thing that could be harmful to my hens? I figure it would be a high calorie winter treat.

I don't know the answer but was also wondering if you can mix feed, scratch etc with pork or poultry drippings? Everyone seems to feed the meet to chickens so I would think this would be fine.

Chickens eat table scraps with no problem- just don't give them overly salty things. If your beef fat is heavily salted, I wouldn't do it.

Also, strong smells of beef might draw predators.

bummer... bacon fat is high in salt. I guess I forgot how bacon is made. Its brined and salted. That must be why it tasted so incredible.
