Fish fries...I wanna come...I live in New England and we can only afford to look at fish...

I'm rather peeved that someone gave someone else chickens as a joke...

Saw your thread late but when ever I see a title "fat chick" or "Big hen" I think, oh no, a new chicken owner got a cornishx meat bird without knowing it!

Good luck with it and keep an eye on it's condition. If you limit feed, just take it away at night and that should help. I would just eat it in a few weeks.

Robobbin i wasn't talkin bout you, but i figured the title was pretty catchy! sounds like Godzilla isn't long for this world doesn't it? my daughter's friend says he'll take him when it's time for ....well. you know. don't make me say it. I'll try taking his food away at night and maybe we can keep him around a bit longer. Meat birds....who knew??

I have to say....living in new england i thought fish would be cheaper. you're alot closer to the ocean. doesn't make sense to me!

and...spottedcrow....doesn't it just make you mad that someone would give chicks as a joke?? 40 of them just showed up at the guy's house. I guess the idea of it would be somewhat humorous, but at some point you'd have to say to yourself, hey jerk, they're live babies. not funny!

I looked at flounder in the market today and it was $9.99 a pound sheesh...
The person probably thought "they're just chickens" That like saying Mother Theresa was just a nun...

When you're around them, you sort of lose the aww jeeze they're just food...that goes buhbye the first time one hops onto your lap and goes to sleep.

you know....i've never had smelt. my grandma used to make it all the time, but i'm really really picky about fish. it makes me suspicious!

your chickens hop in your lap? mine run in fear when i go near them. There was a dog incident that we like to call "The Hotdog Massacre" right after I got them. That's why I have an odd number of chicks. Maybe that's why they're fearful. They're getting better now that I have treats every time i see them.

everyone is invited at anytime to fish our pond!! Loaded with blue gills!! We have a huge blue gill fry once a summer when I can get the old man to clean about 100 fish at a time!! LOL!! Fish fry here on any given Friday night is about $7.99-$8.99 --some of them "all you can eat" ---some places better than others but always yummy fresh out of the fryer after a few cold ones
