FAT CHICKENS

Can chickens get too fat? My wife says yes, I say no. We have a large fenced free range area so our flock of 15 get lots of exercise and run around a lot. We leave feed out for them at all times. We feed them some vegetable scraps, their own egg shells, and periodically hamburger meat. We treat them with meal worms and they love bird seed. That is all they get.

Please comment all you want. Our concern is if they are too fat or can get too fat.

Well, any animal can become obese - and obesity would cause health concerns - but the likelyhood of that happening to your flock based on the descritpion of the conditions you provide is slim enough I would not give it a moment's thought.
