I have 10 laying hens. Some are thin. What could I use to help get weight on my chickens? They are about a year old

When I got mine they were about a year old and somewhat thin. A good steady diet of layer pellets and a mealworms snack in the evenings got mine nice and plump.

Free range as much as possible. Grower feed and oyster shell is what I give my flock. I have a mixed flock with roosters and younger pullets that aren't laying yet so I don't feed layer pellets. And lots of fresh cool water.

Many laying breeds, especially the commercial "egg machine" sorts, are naturally slender.

If you offer free-choice feed all they can eat and your chickens are too thin for their breed type you should probably check them for worms.

Additionally, you should see if dominant birds are guarding the feeders so that those lower in the pecking order can't eat enough. :)
