What is the best feed for putting weight on chickens and the fastest way to do so. I am going to sell some older hens and need to put some weight on them.

you don't need to fatten them up for me

as soon as I get my coops built I would like to get a few more pr's from you buckguy !

Ok That will be fine. I wasn't talking about the PRs necessarily. I have some older others that I plan to sell. Let know if and when you want some.

Well, corn would fatten them up, but that wouldn't make them healthier. They are probably just fine as they are. If they aren't shiny enough, a few weeks on high protein feed or game bird starter should add a good polish to them. :p

If the hens are scrawny and need weight on them you need to start feeding them all more feed and/or a better feed. Give them some game bird feed and some cracked corn. It won't be a fast weight gain though. It takes time to get birds back up to proper weight and condition.

Calf manna...is a nutritional supplement...has a high protein 25%....can be fed to horses, cattle, swine, goats, rabbits and poultry...I just throw a handful out every so often to up their protein level....

Mine I get at Tractor Supply in a 10# bag, its made by Manna Pro and cost it 11.99...goes a long way with 2 doz. hens and roos....

I swear I learn something new about chickens (and well alot of other things sometimes too, lol!!) everyday!! Not having been around any chickens but my own Silkie, I never thought about the shiny factor meaning they are healthy, mine are glossy so I guess they are but I just took for granted that they would ALL be shiny like that!! Duh, for me!! Glad I read this post, I'm gettin soooooo chicken smart, hahaha!!!!!
