You may also want to invest in something like Genetics of Chicken Colours to get a better understanding of color genetics. Feather colors and patterns are complex, but fun! The book is full of pictures too.
Agreed, it's a great book.

I was just wondering what everyones experience on broodiness is with faverolles. So far I have heard different things from everyone.
Hi I do have a cockerel with a very small comb. One of my cockerels has had terrible frostbite living in an open air barn here in Vermont while his small combed companion has not suffered frostbite at all. I will be doing most of my hatching from the small combed male. So yes your welcome to some eggs once the pullets get cranking again. Only getting an egg or two a day. But when I am getting more I will let you know and send you a dozen. Glad to hear your getting some eggs!Yes, Henry, I got told to ask you for some eggs from a particular cock that has a very small comb. I am completely interested.
So, I received an early easter basket today.I had Polish Cap eggs, Comet eggs, Orloff eggs, my FIRST Marans egg and my FIRST FAVORELLE egg!

The Fav egg isn't from the U of A birds. They are still too young, but its so nice to have Favs here and laying. My son was all about Orpingtons this past year and I think he still likes them but thankfully he is taking a shine to the Favs. I have a real range of brown eggs, from white, tinted, cream, pinkish, medium brown and dark.
Also, Sandi, I heard that you crossed that Dorking with a Fav. Were those among the little ones coming up here with Echo?
