Faverolles Thread

Hi folks,
Do salmon Fav Roos crow very much?? I have a male that I got the middle of March as a day old. He still hasn't crowed yet. I know he'll start tomorrow since I am saying this. I was suppose to get 2 female Favs from Ideal and they screwed up. I have an Aruacana that I hatched on Memorial day and he was crowing at 7 wks. I live on Long island NY and I'm not allowed roosters. He is just this dig adorable mush. His name is Omega 3

All mine crow quite a bit. All day plus my early crower. He likes to start at 4:00. It seems they take quite a while to get started. I have birds of different breeds who crow months younger than my Fav boys. Once they get going they will crow plenty. I think they have a nice sounding crow though.

Do you have a picture? Some hatchery pullets turn out really dark.

Mine do crow and at least one is my loudest....If you have a barn or basement you could always make an indoor pen so he is not heard outside. Some of my favorites not in use are barned so my neighbors don't hate me.....

My original Favs were from Ideal, the color was good.....I still have a son whose pretty decent...

Morning All, thanks for getting back to me..I have a problem getting photos on with my iPad. Probably a blonde thing lol I just can't believe I raised all the chicks an gave away the female to my friend down the block. She is turning out to be a little beauty. I definitely can't keep him. My neighbors would call the town in a minute.my husband wants to just cull him.
Thanks again Carol

I spent some time outside with my ladies today, Bacon is my buddy.

Here are Bacon and Eggs (darker beard) I wish they would do that thing where they lay eggs

Our bantam (not sure if that makes a difference) Salmon Roo just started crowing the day we brought him home in the breeder's truck. LOL. But when we brought him home, he didn't crow for a little over a week close to 2. He now crows only in the morning around 6-7 am and it is pretty hilarious as he sounds like a dying car alarm. I am sure he'll get his big boy crow soon. But he doesn't crow through out the day or in the evening. I may have just jinxed myself there.

I have 2 adult boys. The dominant roo crows much more than the other roo. Mostly in the morning, in the evening they're both fairly quiet, really. In the past I had a fav roo that was so loud, and he liked to carry on all day - he didn't last long though, he got mean with me and sang his last tune!

Honestly, I think some of the girls are more vocal than the boys! They drive me nuts when I have to work around the coop area

and just you wait until one lays an egg! The alarms really start going off!
