No not Cindy's blues. They are out in Iowa with David. Noone is related in the blues and blacks. Now, the splashes and the blues have the same parents.

You might want to check their legbands, they are a size 7.

I will take the size 7 off tonight I already have numbered size 9 on them and the 7 were alright but now that I have the o's on I can take them off.

Thanks,
Henry

Ok that will work then. I will have to send Cindy some chicks and eggs later on though and maybe she can get some blacks from Dick later on to diversify.

My last hatch of blacks are due this Sunday. Then another salmon hatch next Wednesday. Ithink that will be it for a while, since I have to go back to Cleveland Clinic on July 23 and have another radiation treatment on my head. That will take alot out of me.

I am sorry to hear about that. My Mom just had Surgery and I am going to Canada this summer and then to college so these blues and blacks and one last salmon hatch are it for me for the rest of the year then I will set a big hatch over winter or spring break and then hatch next summer.

Hope this treatment fixes what ever is wrong!

Sometimes pictures don't do the birds justice. But by going by the pictures, I like Emmit, looks like he has the right amount of points on his comb and I like his type.
Apollo does have to many points on his comb. He needs to be bred to females with less points. It will take time to improve. It also looks like he has short wing in picture #3 which is good. It's not that his wing is short, it means his wing is carried more foward. This comes from the skeletal system of the bird. Should give better body type to his chicks.
Jean Claude, to many points on comb, on his left side to much black in wing bow, one picture and it could be the piture, looks like he has roach back, like he has a hump on his back. The back should be flat when it goes to the extreme it turns out like a hump.
In the pictures of Appolo and Junior doesn't seem like they have flat backs. In the pictures you see the back rise to the neck hackle. Again it's tough judging birds by pictures.
Birds with toes that aren't that great need to be bred to birds that have better toes. Anything can be fixed......it just takes time.

faverolles - Thanks so much for the feedback, its very helpful. Now that I know some things to look for I will go take another look at them. I have always thought Emmet was the best of the bunch, but, as he was my first Faverolles, I am somewhat predjudiced towards him. I may just send the rest to freezer camp and try again with another batch of eggs as I'd like a really nice White Faverolles roo. It may take a little more time to hatch one but I enjoy that part of chicken keeping so I don't care.

Also, how big is too big for a Faverolles rooster? Emmet is a year old and weighs 9 lbs. He is almost as wide as he is long but he really doesn't feel fat. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the European birds are larger that the American ones. What would be the "ideal" size for a Fav roo?

aaawww! how cute! i need to upload the pics of the 8 i hatched this week. i was hoping moma was going to stay focused and on the last 2 eggs but with 8 little fluffy butts to chase after and teach how to eat and drink she wasn't willing to stay seated on the last 2 any longer! good thing i have another broody at the moment, so she gets to see if they will hatch under her!

i decided that my hens have the better hatch rate so i sold off the Hovabator and turner to another BYCer. and i didn't have to worry about the fluctuations in temp and humidity with the mom doing the work!

Buff, if you want i can throw in some extra eggs from the other 2 pens of salmon. i'll still be sending you the same # of blue salmons. just let me know!
