Faverolles Thread

Okay, here are a two pictures. They didn't turn out the best as the birds weren't very cooperative. Henry, I'll do my best to get pictures of the bantam blues. I tried today, but I didn't get one picture taken before my camera went dead. I'll try again tomorrow.

I had planned on putting pictures of my salmons up as well, plus some white hens, but all will have to wait until later. None of them turned out. Sorry.

Black in the beards is not good for a show bird. In my opinion, these two pullets, when bred, should give you cockerels with better beards. Toes look great. What do the cockerels look like.
Dick

Thanks for the info! I had a feeling the black was no good... I don't know if you can tell but hows their shape? I have the hardest time figuring out about that. I only have these two pullets so Im not sure what the cockerels look like. Thanks for your time and info

Their shape looks fine so far. Still need to wait till they fill out more. Put pictures of them in October, lets see what they look like then.

Looking at the pics of the two pullets again..... black in beard, dark hackle and dirty breast make the best cockerel breeding hens. Again, only my opinion.

And she's getting my light roo, so hopefully between the light roo and the dark hens, she'll get some nice birds!

Hello peeps!

Here is what i believe to be a Faverolles roo, which i am in need of.

I have a question for this thread.
Is it a roo? How does the color look? and most importantly, it only has 4 toes. I have the option of finding this another home and picking up a good (fullgrown

roo) for $30 or riding this out and letting it breed with my hens. My hens look great and have 5 toes. I might some day sell the eggs. Any and all advice is welcome.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hey Jonathan. I would get the full grown rooster if his type and color are good. Its worth the extra money to get good stock. It would be much better to use a rooster with the correct number of toes.
