The bantam Faverolle eggs that Nikki shipped on Tuesday have not made it here yet, and I'm kinda freaking out!! If they don't make it today I won't get them until Monday!!! Send some good vibes out my way (or maybe a GPS to my post office since they can't seem to get the eggs to my house)!! AAARRRG!

oh another update everyone my flocks body condition has imporved tremendously when I moved them from the tractor into the large movable coop they get fresh ground almost every day and they seem really happy and healthy I am getting eggs to. I was just looking through an old poultry book that had one of those idilic scenes with lots of runs and faverolles all inside of them and then I looked out the window and said that looks like my set up

I am so happy with these guys and I want to get my nice incubator now so I can have lots of babies ha ha

There a french breed the LF version is a great dual purpose bird. They lay well in winter and a very cold and snow tolerant which is probably not an issue in South Africa. In the US the two recognized colors are White and Salmon but there are blue, blue salmon, black, mottled, mahogany, and buff in the country although all colors but salmon and blue salmon are extremly rare and hard to find if they even continue to be bred in the US. I don't know if they have them in your country at all. They personalities are amazing they are very calm and friendly.

Welcome to the Faverolles world

We do have Faverolles, here. What about frost? It's worse than snow.

Yes they will be fine with frost its often quite icy and frosty here we are in a pretty humid and cold part of the US and they girls are fine and laying anyway.

Crossing my fingers for you hope they get there today!

Thank you so much! They finally came!!! The mail lady just about gave me a heart attack though. She delivered my mail, then passed my house and I thought oh no, they didn't come. Just as I thought all was lost, she throws the truck in reverse and comes back to deliver the eggs.

I just candled, and only four of the air cells were in such bad shape that I had to toss them. Some were questionable, but I'm going to give it a shot. I actually think the box had been dropped because all four that I had to toss were in the same corner. One air cell was completely free floating!

I can't wait for my little Faverolle babies!!!

Give the quedstionable ones some time to settle hope have a good hatch most of my eggs from nikki grew really well and then I candled them to much and had a temp spike and a bunch of the quit. I am getting a new bator soon so hopwfully that doesn't happen.

i'm happy my PO is usually good about handling them gently and are generally interested in the breeds i've ordered when they come. it's the other end and the in-between that worries me.

i can't wait for my eggs to come this week!! i just don't know how i'm going to tell my dh so he knows they're coming without getting mad that i've started up again with eggs.

Whose eggs are you getting? I have some coming from Hattrick once it decides to warm up. I was hoping it would warm up this coming week but it looks like it will snow instead.

But I did manage to order another incubator and turner. One of these days my current birds (non-faverolle) will decide to start laying and I can hatch those. At least they won't be abused by the PO.
