Faverolles Thread

Well, just came in from shoveling. About 4" on the ground. Had to get it done because they're saying it'll be turning to sleet then rain. GREAT!!!. That's New England weather for you. Right now it looks like I'm planning on having 16 breeding pens. I'll have to be right on top of my record keeping. I might have to borrow my buddy,Eddie's incubator.

Jonathan,
I'd love to see pictures of your hens.

I am trying to dig up some pics from poultry press. I live 2 hours from Mom and Dad's where the birds are. I will get some up as soon as I can.

Sixteen pens! Wow, that's a lot. I'm planning on six I think.

We got 6" of snow, then icing. There's still freezing rain even now but at least the power is back on. I just hope the 4 hour outage didn't damage the eggs due to hatch in 4 days. More snow Friday too!

Okay Peter, here's what I'm seeing for ticking in the pullets.

I also see some in the hackles in both Dick's and Ron's girls.

And finally for a color comparison between the 2 lines. Ron's line is darker, Dick's girls are lighter and have a creamy color breast.

Offpsring from Ron's trio with another Jonathan (I'm turning him into a fav lover)

And one of Dick's girls that didn't want to pose.

I was thinking of ordering some Faverolles from my pet chicken. I'm having a hard time finding any in my area.I was wondering if anyone knows of the quality of their birds.I realize I'll get nicer birds from a breeder but if I can't find one it does me no good. Thanks for any input.

Where in the NE corner? I'm in NJ. I just received my new incubator today and was thinking of trying out this hatching thing, since Leisha approved my two birds as worthy. They are very nice, but I could not promise SQ. I also was planning to have a few available for our spring show in Sussex Cty on May 21 this year.
