Faverolles Thread

Your females are what I was looking to get. Oh well, when you want to be guaranteed the best you should go through a breeder I guess. I do like this hen and hopefully she will lighten up more as she ages.

What color are her legs? Some hatcheries are offering "mahogany" Faverolles?

I'll check them tomorrow but if memory serves me right they are a gray/slate color with five toes and feathers on the leg. I'll get some much clearer closer pix tomorrow. She was sold as a salmon faverolle and I wasn't expecting show stock (I don't show anyway, they are pets to me) but I did expect her to be the correct coloring.

Check with Clover for some eggs. She has some FINE birds!

There are a couple of hatcheries that sell really off colored pullets. I doubt she will lighten much. But if she has a nice temperment and lays well then enjoy her.

Yep, I'm not getting rid of her she's a real sweetie. Right now I've got her and another pullet a BCM together in a yard next to the big girls. I'll be integrating them in another month or so but I suspect these two girls will probably remain at the bottom of the pecking order they're both so gentle/shy.

I posted in another thread that I was looking to get a docile breed rooster next year along with a few more hens. I've been through many, many standard size roosters over the years and have got rid of all but one bantam because they were either too aggressive to me or to the hens. I'd given up on having another large rooster because of this situation but now that's it been about 4 years I'm ready to try it again. Sooooo, what kind of temperment do the faverolle roosters have "in general"?

in general i have had some wonderful faverolles roosters. i did have 4 that i hatched that were LF my first few months of trying to hatch my chickens and they were just skittish and one started becoming aggressive to me so i had them take a little trip when they were at 5 months old. the bantams i have had very few problems with. i currently have a mid-sized/LF cuckoo fav project boy that i may have to re home. he has a sweet personality but he really needs larger girls to chase and not my bantams.
