Does someone have the correct phone number for Dick Boulanger?

My first 2 salmon favorolles came from a hatchery, and both went broody last summer. I now have some breeder quality birds from people on this thread, and since I'm keeping my 2 old girls for egg layers, I can let them brood some of my newer chicken's eggs.

HI, there are alot of differences. Faverolles have white or off white eggs that are of medium size. The heads are slightly different and the body shape should be lower and blockier with slight feathering on the legs. Salmon coloration is standard outside the specialized colorations.
EE's can be any coloration even though the Wheaton variety of Ameraucana's are colored similar to Salmon Faverolles. EE should have slate or greenish legs, they are not quite so fluffy and vary to almost a more tight feathered look, more erect body style especially in the males, eggs are usually large green, blue or even pinkish.

Faverolles are bearded and muffed, where EE some are and some are not though Ameraucana's should be. These are just some of the differences......hope this helps

Great description of the body. I always think of very wide and fairly low as ideal for Favs, with an eye toward a nice chunky build and trapezoidal body shape.There is also the skin color, comb (Favs,are 5 point straight, where Americaunas are a pea comb if I remember correctly) and that 5th toe that really set them apart... but both Dick and myself accidentally headed to the Americaunas section of the Congress show because the Wheaten Am. hens looked so much like Fav girls from a distance. (was so glad it wasn't just me LOL)

As for egg color, my Favs have never laid anything even close to white... most are a deep rose to light brown and are medium sized. Finish on the eggs varies; mostly it is a middle of the road finish- neither shiny or chalky, However, I do have one hen that lays a deep rosy-tan high gloss egg, and I have another that lays a creamy tan chalk finish egg. I do know Dick is going to begin selecting for darker eggs with his flock to help improve earlobe color. (darker shell = more red in the lobe)

Genetics of ear lobe color:
Most breeds have red ear lobes. The red color is due to the blood of the bird and is visible because the skin of the ear lobes, comb and wattles has a rich blood supply that is not masked in any way. These skin areas are so highly vascularized that squeezing a comb between your thumb and forefinger will more than likely squeeze out some of the birds blood onto your fingers. Mosquito bites often leave a small amount of dried blood on the comb. Breeds of the Mediterranean Class (Leghorn, Minorca and Spanish) have 'white' ear lobes.
The white ear lobe is due to the purine pigment which is controlled by a number of genes. The trait is said to be polygenic. The red ear lobe is due to the lack of the genes that invoke the purine pigmentation. Sometimes the white ear lobe can have a greenish or yellowish tinge. The number and location of the genes responsible for white ear lobes is not presently known.

Yeah I am so excited that I put those eggs in the incubator! After that post I put another white and salmon egg in so I have 5 of each! And the white ones are salmon X white! My white hen crossed to my RB rooster I also brought to the show! I am hoping more so that I get some nice type salmons out of her and bigger roosters! Anything would be nice! This Saturday I'm getting the white rooster and I am hatching every egg out of my white hen and this rooster from Sandi! I also put my RB rooster in with one of my other salmon hens and the hen from Cindy! Just waiting for them to lay some eggs! :\ I am really REALLY!!! Excited for all these eggs and breedings! I can't wait to see what all my birds produce! Especially my whites now! Yay!

Daniel glad to hear your starting to incubate some. Is the pullet you got laying yet? Will the white eggs be salmon white X's? I am going to wait for a while to hatch as I have limited space and its still so darn cold. Don't really want to have many chicks in the house. Maybe in late February or march.
