Yes, I should do that, but to be honest - I'm a coward! - When I get home from work it's late, and the coop is far from the house, there's critters out there (yotes, cougar and big foot!

). By the time I get up the next day, they've already been laying again

And since I moved those 3 girls, an SF girl has flopped down there on top of a few eggs! I think I'm fighting a losing battle, being broody seems like a contagious disease right now

Funny, mine never go broody!

I have had them, but not this year so far except 2 mixed girls...same with eggs, we finally have something resembling warm weather now everyone is laying copious amounts of eggs except my Mahoganies. BUT, since i trimmed Black bottoms....there IS signs of fertility in the latest Black Fav. eggs in the bator. crossing fingers.

My favs are just a year old now and so far no broody symptoms.  I don't plan on hatching this year so that if fine with me.;)

Man I hope mine follow suit. We seem to be broodie central here with my silkie and sizzles. Have been dreading these girls starting as well. Seems we break one of it and the next goes cool the nest is free it must be my turn lol

BTW..... If you really have big foot, you need a night vision camera & I want to see the footage!

i am in the market for some show quality salmon's! i have been reading up on this breed and fall more and more in love with each tid bit of info. I live in texas and know someone that is producing blue salmons! i think they would go great in my flock and allow me to start a show line (obviously not with the blues, but salmons). keep up the chats and hope to be joining in soon!!

I didn't think I'd be lucky enough to have a good quality fav go broody. She's almost a year old and she's the darkest colored pullet I have. Boy, she's ate up with it too, doesn't hardly even move! She's a big girl, able to cover a nice clutch.... I'll have to get a handful of her eggs and shove them under the next hen that gets the urge! I think it's a good trait for heritage birds to be a little broody.

Ok, I would love some comments.
These chicks are the same age. The first picture is of a chick I assumed was a cockerel. The 2nd picture is OBVIOUSLY a cockerel. He is the only chick that looks like that.
Is picture 1 still a cockerel? Or did I end up with a ton of pullets :)weee) or are the rest of the cockerels (3 that look like picture 1) just growing in different than picture 2? Why such a HUGE difference?

Oh, hah! Guess actually posting the pictures would help!
