Faverolles Thread

Head shot of Miss Suzie ?? (Sandi)

Good overall shape, could be a tad more refined as her comb is a bit bit on the big size and she is lacking a point. From what I have gathered from various forums, and my own breedings, the female comb inferences primarily blade shape and size, while a male seems to only influence height, shape and number of points. If you focus on the 2 separate things in each sex with an eye toward your ultimate ideal (both the SOP and your personal preferences), you should improve a bit with each generation. If anyone can shed more light on the subject of comb inheritance (or if I remembered all the info wrong LOL) please speak up

Thank you Sandi for the comb info - I had no idea it comes from the mother's side.... I always look at my girls and scrutinize their combs, it seems like all of them have a slightly different shape/size!

I guess that's why we all strive for the sop!

Hello! I have become a big fan of the Faverolles. We are working on the coop and run for our future flock. So, in the meantime, I am searching for LF Salmon Faverolles. There is a few fairs and swaps coming up that I hope to attend in Oregon and hope to luck out with our very own Faverolles. I love the photos on here... so many beautiful birds.

Lunar  Rain  You are fav. heaven, check with Cloverleaf farms.  I have her eggs  in my hatcher now.

I am excited for you Crazyhen, can't wait to see your pics of the chicks. I had pm'd Cloverleaf but not Cloverleaf Farms (2 different people?)last night. I also got a pm from a local person down the road. Now to stop slacking and work on the coop and yard.

Cloverleaf and Cloverleaf Farms are one in the same.  I highly recommend her!:thumbsup

Nice birds.

Thanks! ;)

LR....I haven't gotten any PMs from you....?? A friend of mine in Bend has nice Favs too, some of which came from me, she might have something to sell you and would definitely be closer to you than me ;)

Thanks!

I think I sent the PM to Cloverleaf last night, it was late. Bend is only down the road. I think that person PM'd me this morning. I will definitely let her know when the our coop is ready to be filled with sweet FAVs. Thank you guys so much, you have made this search for great birds simple.

I have a question, I have two Faverolle hens, and after one of them gets mounted, she always walks backwards and shakes her head for a couple of seconds, then she stops and seems to be perfectly fine eating fish bathing ? Not quite sure what this is? Only hen that I have that does it and only hen I have ever seen that does it ?!?!?
