N8ivetxn-My white girl is slightly slower developing than the other girls, is it possible your hen has white recessive with salmon leakage?

Ya know, I don't think she does, but I could be wrong....if so, she's the only one I've had like that. The interesting thing is, she is very light in salmon color. I'm curious to see how she'll look in a couple of months.

I came home a couple of weeks ago and found her with a serious looking wound on her little neck and down to the point between her shoulders. Her fuzz/feathers were missing all along that area and it was caked with dried blood. She seemed vigorous even though it looked terrible. I gooped it up with neosporin so the other chickens wouldn't peck at it. It worked! I have no idea who attacked her. I've never seen any of the other birds act aggressive toward her, but something happened.

Looks like a light colored pullet to me. I had several like that hatch last year.

Salmon leakage looks different. I have an example of a pullet with leakage in my photo album but this stupid computer won't let me load it here.

A local is asking me about LF SF and where he and his wife can find nice ones. I didn't know what to tell him except to steer clear of anything out of NH. Anyone in here want to volunteer to let me share their info? He was raising Crevs but lost all but one to a predator so... moving on I guess.

Maybe so eliz, I thought about it. I used to see a little mouse running around the coop area late in the evening. I thought the barn cats had recently cleaned him up, but maybe not. Crows are too big, can't get through the wiring of the run....I've never seen rats around here, but doesn't mean their not around.

After that I actually created an area for the chicks to squeeze into, so they can get away from any of the birds that might be harassing them.....

Yes, one of the two pullets you shipped me last fall was a light colored girl. I wondered if this chick might have come from one of her eggs. The chick is even lighter than that hen!

Yeah I'm new to favs, so my questions may be totally irrational to real chicken people, lol, sorry. I'm surprised by the extreme color variation in the fav hens, of course I haven't been able to read Peter Merlins paper on the subject of types yet so maybe that will clear it up... Is it a dilution gene that influences the coloring?

Hey all...just popping in for a minute before I head back over to the fair...

I've thought long and hard about whether or not to post on a certain subject, and I have tried to ignore it, but it keeps gnawing at me. There isn't a super nice way to put this, so I'm just going to do the best I can...

Recently I saw a post from someone, which I believe was on Facebook, stating that she had chosen a farm name, that is VERY similar to mine. This person lives less than an hour away from me, and also raises large fowl salmon Faverolles. I am not pleased.

The real reason I am throwing this out there, is to clarify for people that are new to the Faverolles breed, and also to put the word out there to people that already know me. I get A LOT of traffic on my Facebook page and my website from people that were just doing an internet search, or from word of mouth. I don't want people to get confused by this, if they start typing in "Clover" and "Oregon" and "Faverolles" if multiple farm names start coming up. I do NOT want her name associated with my birds, or my name associated with hers. There is a huge difference in our lines.

Bottom line here for the newbies is: do your research and make sure you know where your birds are coming from. And I ask that, of the rest of you, if you hear of someone getting stock from "Clover-something" in Oregon, PLEASE ask and make sure they know whose birds they are getting.

Different country so unsure of laws but don't you have legal ways to make them change their name? Here we can't register a business name in the same state that is too close to another similar business. You can't trade without registering a name. So here you could report the use of a name like that.

Hi again everyone, I posted last week wondering if my young favs were actually bantams. Looking at pictures I do believe they're LF, they have pretty long legs which the bantams don't seem to have. BUT, I'm still concerned over how small they are? They're 18 weeks tomorrow but still seem so small. Is there any reason they may be growing so slow? Have I done something wrong? I really don't think they should still be this small
