Well I got some crappy pictures of the new pair put I will post them anyway hope to get some better ones tommorow. They are still a little ruff looking because of their trip to Ohio.
I talked to Meyer today. They will start hatching fav chicks on March 29th. You can get as few as if you're by a major city, and you pay express shipping.
I've got a question for someone about the Faverolles coloring. Henry, in your cockerel's pic he looks to be a "platinum blonde". My cockerel is much more yellow/golden. Which is correct or are both okay? I had another Faverolles cockerel that was colored like yours (he had a crooked beak but made good fried chicken) and I wondered what the difference is as far as the coloring.

I am not really sure hope someone knows. I guess it has something to do with the three types of faverolles peter merlin talks about on his web page. German faverolles can be "clear" faverolles with the lighter platnium coloring. Then I guess the english faverolles are more straw colored.
My blue salmon rooster is a bit more straw colored but also isn't completly straw colored more like the plantnum I guess it all depends I am really not sure. He has a burnspot on his neck feathers.

i think both colors may be ok for them. i looked over feathersite.com and i see where they have a few with a yellowy looking saddle and some have what looks to be the platinum/clear color.
Here we go I found the quote about it we are looking for the lighter platinum color here is a quote from peter merlin
"we shall look for other proper characteristics, like a small head with a red face and orange-red eyes; small but erect comb; ivory colored hackle in males with the darker red neck-patch proper toe formation, etc"
Remember I said I knew of a friend that raises Faverolles? Well she sold all of them last year so have to take her off the Faverolle referral list. Christie Ritter (Mothergoose) is her name. However she still has some Welsummers. Anyway, her Faverolle bantams were from Catalupa Farms.
