Faverolles Thread

I didn't know you kept records that far back LOLOL! Who has the OLDEST Fav out there?

Henry, I am so sorry about the chick, I've had my share of it and yes, I do help them out and many of them were fine today. Not sure why but I did lose a few that way by helping and they were weak to begin with and never thrived. I hate to lose any chicks myself. Peter has a point there, the strongest ones will survive and you will be certain that longetivity will come sooner lOL!

No, you will not get a blue salmon out of a pure salmon parents. However sometimes if one or both parents have a blue parent, it is possible a "throwback" occur. Someone will have to correct me on that one.

NOw lets see the white bantams! It would be neat to get some dove grey Faverolles (not blues, just grey) with white chests and beards on girls and black beards and chests on boys.

One of the bantam chicks I have may be white it would be from salmon parents we will have to wait another week or so most of the LF ended up being salmons and blue salmons but I think I have a few girls at least. Need to see in another week or so.

ok, here's the updated pics of the 2 i got out of Henry's eggs about 2 weeks ago.

Fav1 on the left and Fav2 (was the smaller one with what looked like a crooked toe at first) on the right.

Fav2 also after the dog got a little taste. (it's good the dog doesn't eat them, just likes to give them a big kiss!)

are yours LF or bantams? i'm waiting to see what hatches this weekend out of my bantam orp eggs for my color project. we'll also have to wait and see in a month or two when Henry sends me the roo and girls. though these 2 little ladies are related to those birds so i probably shouldn't get them crossed with the new boy coming.

we will see. are you planning on going to Shay's (the Spring Chick Fling) in March for the cookout? maybe by then i will have made up my mind and i could get one from you then!

In looking for that article (in case it was up yet) I found this... at the end it mentions other Fav colors... ooooh I want 'Red (Black breasted Red)'!

These are bantams. I got the eggs from Nikki. I'm trying to avoid the egg route on the LF, and find some started/adult birds. I just hatch too many boys. Last year I hatched 80% roos. That's about where I'm starting this year.

I plan on going to Shay's in March. By then I'll know if they're salmon or blue salmon. It's too early for that yet.

You can never have enough favs

I will send them to you as soon as the new rooster from Leisha is through quarentine and/or the Oxley Cockerel is fertile. I am going to show him in March we will see what the judge has to say.

On another note from what I have hatched and what others have been hatching my flock has been producing mostly pullets! Really about 65%-75% a pair of pullets, a pair, a quad, 6 pullets, and a trio. We will see I guess.

Henry, isn't there something in your water is causing to have more pullets than cockerals??????????

Might have to bottle that water and give it to my bantams LOL!
