Well, the 4th baby still hadn't "pushed of it's lid" so after thoroughly checking to make sure none of the other eggs had pips, I quickly opened the bator and took out said egg...it was dead.

There were still a few spots that it hadn't zipped quite ALL the way around, but it had done over 75% of the egg, so I broke off the top and it had its head tucked way under itself, nowhere near where it needed to be breaking shell...??? It wasn't wet in there at all, so I can't say that it drowned...and it wasn't stuck anywhere, so it wasn't shrink wrapped...I dunno...just makes me sad, it looked perfect, just a BIG baby...

Here's the other 3, just moved into the brooder, with "big sister" in the pic. There was already a throwdown between one of the babies and one of the bantam cochins in there, but they're working it out! I'll get better pics later!

So sad when they don't make it! I am hatching my very first duck eggs (my Scovies) and last night I had my first pip... nice big hole before I went to bed with a big fluffy piece sticking out... and talking... I was so excited I got up in the middle of the night to check and he was dead... totally perfect little ducky with yolk absorbed... just not alive

... No more pips yet either... and I don't know if I can get my humidity up high enough with forced air..

and now I am at work and can't even know how they are doing...

No matter how many times I do this it is still such a miracle that I can put eggs in a machine and little babies come out.... WOW!

Here they are I didn't take any pictures of the hen she is going to get a bath she is also a dark hen but will be used to put black back in their tails. He is very handsome couldn't get a good picture of his lacing on the breast but it is VERY nice! And his beard was a bit wet. Also the hen already layed and egg today wow!

Here he is:

OK... I know he is not a Fav;) But I have my first little Scovie baby!!! he was kind of sticky (but not stuck to the egg) so I took him out and washed him and put him back... I'm such a picky person... Now he is fluffing and sooo cute!!

Anybody know how to D/C the fan in a hova? I know it's that blowing wind that is drying out my babies.... grrrr!
