Faverolles Thread

No mine only lay a light tan egg, are you sure she is not an EE, that is colored like a fav. She sure is pretty but I would think she is not a full bred Fav. Her comb from this angle also looks like an EE comb not like Alma's straight comb. Hmmm. Somebody else will come and tell you for sure cause I am far from being an expert.

I'm sorry, I have no idea what an EE is? or indeed if they are available in France?
I do wonder if there is Aracuna (sp?) in her background though. She has 5 toes if that helps.]

An EE is a Mix breed chicken with Aracuna in their background she could very well be a mix with an EE and Salmon Fav. EEs can lay green , blue , brown ,white and even pinkish eggs. Does your girl have feathered legs? EE stands for Easter Egger because of the colors of eggs it lays. She could have inherited her toes from A Faverolle parentage. Like I said I think she is a very pretty girl what ever she is.

when i saw your close up pic of her comb she looks like she might be and easter egger or have some crossed into her. she has the small/pea comb. she also looks too light to be a pure fav. more than likely someone crossed an ee into her line somewhere and she just happened to get the 5th toes. only one of my sf crossed chicks received its 5th toes but it was killed by a hen living in the same pen with it's mom.

so it doesn't seem to show up often in non-5th toe breed crossings.

Zombie, have you tried cutting back some of the feathers on Edgar's muff near his eyes? sometimes i've been reading that they can get temperamental if they cannot see things around them.

I have a lavender D'uccles and a pair of black faverolles on their way next week to work on the lavender project. Then at the end of the summer I may get some whites if all goes well. We will see the blue salmon boys fertility has improved since I put another rooster in the pen with him.
