I set my first set of Fav. and Fav.x SS eggs Yesterday, Please everybody wish me luck with them, I hope I get some really pretty chicks like You All Have!! I set a bakers Dozen so hopefully there will be a good amount of girls in the bunch. My girl Alma injured her leg when she was a chick but gets around really well. and Oliver my boy is just a youngster at 9 months old so hopefully he can do the job! Both of them are very nice looking birds (too me). Almas bum leg not withstanding of course. Oliver is a little highstrung but not mean by any standard, he is very quick and a little standoffish, Alma though is a very sweet girly. and she looks alot like your girls, Hcammock, except when I first put Oliver in with her she put up a fight and got her muff of one side pulled out, but it should grow back. She has since learned to deal with him, Alma is really layed back for the most part and has been kept locked up except when out free ranging with her girl buddy Uno (SS) So I thought she would just get pecked to death by some of my more dominant girls but as it turns out, If she has to fight, she is in it to win it, most of the time she loses but she sure tries. LOL and thankfully not received any serious damage from them Mostly just" your not taking my spot in the pecking order kinda warnings". The reason I have the Xeggs is because Alma and Uno are in the same cage and both were in with Oliver and Curiousity got the best of me and wanted to see what I would get with the two of them. LOL couldn't help myself. thanks for the well wishes in advance. Sandy

Good luck your birds sounds like characters! Hope you get a good hatch of both speckled Sussex and pure Faverolles. Maybe you can work on some speckled faverolles.

Just wanted to get everyones input on this. I am thinking about selling almost all of my salmon and blue salmons. I will keep two hens for the lavender salmon project. I want to focus on BBS faverolles, Lavender project Faverolles, and white faverolles bantams. What do you all think? I think there are a bunch of people breeding salmon and blue salmon now but BBS and White are very very very rare maybe 5-10 breeder for each variety in the US and certainly not large flocks of them. What do you all think? I love my Blue Salmons and salmons but the other varieties need a lot of work and also the solid colors are easier to work with then the complex lacing and male coloring of the blue salmons and salmons.

I think you are right Henry, lot's of people have Salmons and Blue Salmons... So, will you be focusing on LF or Bantam? or, dare I say, both...
Bantam and then when I get out of college I am going to go mostly LF. I think I might actually try and do BBS, Lavender, White, and Salmon. I will just have everyone run together during the fall and winter and then separate them for a spring and early summer hatch.
I think you should take your time to decide what to do. You've searched all over to get the birds you have and I don't think you should sell them ASAP.
However, there is something to be said for keeping it simple. There is a reason why I will only be keeping bantam blues and LF salmons! Just those 2 varieties will be a lot of work. Blue can be a challenge, and don't forget there is lacing on solid blues too. If I didn't have the Sussex I'd consider LF whites, they are quite pretty. Especially if you can get your hands on some of the silver gene whites.

That is what I am getting you saw some of the birds I might be getting in the white it is to good a start to pass up
I have been talking with Leisha and she told me I should definitely keep the Salmons and Blue salmons. I think I will get all the varieties and then choose to sell one off. Maybe I will bring 100% of the Lavender and Lavender salmons bantam splits to Him and not keep any of those so that would leave me with a small flock of salmons and blue salmons a pair or trio of blacks and blues and then a trio of whites. I will run them together that plan should work maybe keep a trio of lavender splits to. We will see I think I am just going to play it by ear. If I get overwhelmed or my parents do I can sell off some birds.
