Faverolles Thread

The hatch will be next Saturday evening... I would have taken pics of my broody and ark today, but it is raining

i have 1 broody in the garage coop sitting on 10 eggs this past week. another girl has been thinking about it over 3 more eggs. i have 6 more fav eggs i was collecting during the week and didn't sell today while at the flea market we attend every saturday (had a few people interested though

). so i guess i will be setting them out for the girl that has been thinking over the 3 eggs all week!

i have 7 banty cochin eggs too that will have to be set so i'll be leaving those to the other broody who is thinking over them.

26 eggs all together between 2 girls! here's hoping for a good hatch in a few weeks!

OK all, time to weigh in another time. Here is a current, 3-week old, pic of my baby of question. Boy or girl? Faverolle or other?

Daddy in question was a Blue Salmon Faverolle
Oh I should say that the little one banged its comb and has a little bloody spot making it look particularly red at the end near its beak

Hope so to good luck with them broodies are really fun aren't they!

Im really lucky I think. I have wild chickens mostly and they go broody all the time. I dont have to do it myself. They are really good sitters and then great at taking care of the babies once hatched.

the girl that went broody is my bantam buff brahma and strangely she has not started screeching at me when i touch her or the eggs! it's her first time going broody too! here's hoping she is just as good a moma as Chloe was to her first brood of chicks! here's also hoping i get lots of pretty pullets out of these eggs!
