I didn't get anything new my Dad asked what I got and I said nothing and he said that's a first ha ha. But it just means I will hatch a few more blacks. I will take pictures of the chicks when I get home.
It was nice to finally meet you, and see Dick and Sandi again! I love the crow from that lavender orp roo. I would also like to see how that splash salmon pullet/roo/half and half turns out. Dick should post some pics on that one! Will it crow? Lay eggs? Both??
The blue pair is settling in. They are definitely mellow little birds. I haven't heard a peep out of either yet.
That thing is so weird Dick needs to take pictures of it when it has its saddle feathers in! I also need to tell Leisha ha ha. I had a great time meeting everyone I am about to head home. Hope that BBS eggs hatch. The blues are sweet aren't they.

What do you mean ha ha
Remember that little salmon pullet with dark splotches on her chest? Well Dick, Cindy, and I were looking at her and saying it looks almost like male coloring on a female. Then I kinda ruffed up the back saddle feathers and you can see that underneath the hen feathers there are the pointy golden and brown saddle feathers coming in. I think that its a hermaphrodite chicken! Really strange but kinda cool.
Ok my mom let the humidity get really low today because she thought the hatch was done. But one more chick still made it out that makes 3 looks like a little blue but it has gunk all over it. There is one more egg pipped but I am not sure the little guy is gonna make it. Always a risk setting eggs when your going to leave but I thought I would be home for this hatch but had to reschedule my trip because of my Dad. Next time it will go much better. Good news is I have 3 healthy chicks. Looks like either 2 blues and a splash or one blue, one black, and one splash. The first blue one doesn't have to much of a beard but the little splash has beard covering its eyes! Both have good toe separation and leg fluff so I am going to grow them out and see what I get. Haven't taken a look at the 3rd chick he is still getting his strength back in the hatcher. I bumped humidity up to see if this last chick hatches.

I think it may be a chimera. Two zygotes fused together, essentially creating a half and half bird. Looks like splash pullet on top, splash roo on the bottom.

They are beautiful! In a few years I am getting into LF salmons for sure. I just think there is nothing as handsome as a LF salmon male and nothing as beautiful as a LF salmon female. They are very different from the bantams. Oh well when I have room after college I will get some.
I think that that may have been the first picture of people posted on this thread
It was a great time!
Peter how do you mark your chicks with food coloring?

The black beards come in slow, so be patient. Yes you have one of each color
Ok good thanks for the advice I will keep that chick and see what happens. I am excited about having one of each color. The leg color is interesting the blue has light white legs as does the splash and the black has very dark almost black legs.
