What show was you at and what judge was you talking to?

Sussex County, in NJ. The judge was Glenn See from Virginia. He said he was getting back into judging after taking a bit of a sabbatical. What a pleasant man he is, and I appreciated his honesty. He was also very encouraging about my pullet, and told me they were all three very nice, and then discussed the points that could be improved. I couldn't get pics of any of them because they were all blurry. I'll try to get some of them outside today. They are all from Rose Isgrigg's line.

Hey - does anyone want a very nice dark BLRW LF roo? I hand raised him, and then found out he was a he, and I can't have him where I live. Free for BYCers, I just want my big guy to have a nice home. He was born in April. I can get pics. I'm bringing him to Columbus for a last-ditch effort to keep him out of the soup pot. Ideally, I'd like an older 4Her to take him. Thanks!

I managed to get a few baby pics this morning. The first one has obviously had no problem finding the food dish - its crop is almost big enough to be a head rest for it!

2 of the five are yellow, 1 is very pale yellow so I think it will be white. The other two have much darker coloring over their backs - kind of rusty looking. The chick in the pic below is modeling this for you.

I hope this post isn't too pic overloaded. I just figure one can never look at too many chick pics!

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how close in size they are to the Orpington chicks. Most of the Orp eggs were at least half again as big as my Fav eggs and some of them were twice as large. I was afraid my Favs would be much tinier than the Orps but they are much the same size.

Thanks for the compliments - I am very happy all of this batch hatched. Now, if the other five that are due this Saturday will all hatch, that would be fantastic. I actually have TWO broody hens now, a Fav and a Silkie, both first timers. I decided to split the eggs between them and hopefully increase my chances of a good hatch (surely one of them will get it right!). I gave the Silkie two of them and the Fav hen has 3 Fav eggs and a Marans/Fav cross egg. Keep your fingers crossed for me. So far, both girls are sticking tight to their nests. The Fav hen is already in a broody box and I'm going to move the little Silkie girl Wednesday night to her own private accomodations.

been too docile and will occasionally squat with the wings out like a hen. but i have also seen it mount the other girls it is in with but has not crowed in front of me, also has roo-ish looking feathers in the saddle and hackle areas and the tail looks sort of male. got the 5 toes, small beard but does have a beard and muff! i need to get some pics to show how the project is progressing.
